Newark Focus

Well this was a weekend with St Mary’s Church at Focus Newark . As the date neared I was going to pull out as it looked too family oriented and I

would be an older single man amongst lots of children . But Di at the church convinced me that there would be others my age there .

I travelled by bike and train . Fun going through London on bike then putting bike on the train .

Arrived to meet Stella Laura and Joyce . Than Paul and Darrell . Months later I find out that the girls had only met this weekend . The lads had single tent like me but mine was waterproof Teo man and held up to the rain . I needed a chair and bought one on my return .

I volunteered for some roles , making coffee so that if I did get isolated/ bored I could get away. It was good and I also went to the Saturday park run too . Having the bike was great as I could tour the ground especially when bathrooms were blocked . Yuk . But fair does the showers were exceptionally good .

Meals were cooked by a team from st Mary’s but not very well organised but good enough for me . They need a quartermaster like me next year !!!

I generally went to the evening talk and one phrase that sticks in mind

“Discontinuation of discontent “ -basically drawing boundaries of behaviour that’s unacceptable to you .

I’m evening there was a great dance , a folk/comic singer ice skating and a tv to watch the England match .

In Newark I visited the sites , did parkrun on Saturday and met Zz Andrew in the city centre . That was an interesting experience .

I love travelling by train . The tent worked well and met a fine group of people
